About the Journal

International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies (IJOHACS) is published quarterly (April, July and December) by UT University Press, Texas. IJOHACS  is a peer-reviewed Journal which seeks to reflect developments in the general fields of English and French Studies: Language and Linguistics, Applied Linguistics and Literature and communication studies. As a multilingual/interdisciplinary journal, IJOHACS presents an opportunity for researchers and scholars to publish their works in accordance with global best practices in order to contribute to the body of knowledge. 

International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies (IJOHACS) publishes in April, July and December a year. The editorial team's high-quality publications in recognized journals contributes to the high-quality of papers published in IJOHACS. The journal publishes both online and in print with Digital Object Identifier (D.O.I).

Focus and Scope: 

International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies aims to publish original research and perspectives that study and develop arts and humanities concepts, theories, and practices. Its international reach is reflected in the fact that it encourages contributions from academics, researchers, graduate students, and policymakers. All articles should be written in the English and French. The scope of IJOHACS includes but is not limited to the areas follows:

      1). Arts and Humanities: History and Philosophy of Science, Religious Studies.

      2). Language and Linguistics: Communication and Media.

      3). Social Sciences.

Peer Review Process: International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies (IJOHACS) is dedicated to maintaining peer-review integrity and maintaining high review standards. Your manuscript will be single-blind peer evaluated by independent, anonymous expert referees after the editor has verified its suitability. Review Guidelines for the IJOHACS are as follows:

Step 1Editorial AssessmentBeginning with the submission of your paper to a journal, there are several stages to peer review. The journal editor will assess if it is appropriate for the journal at this stage, asking questions like:

  1. Has the author followed the journal's guidelines?
  2. Is this the proper publication for this article?
  3. Will it be interesting and valuable to the journal's readers?

The editor may right away reject the manuscript, but if not, it will proceed to the next stage, peer review.

Step 2: Peer review (first round). The editor will find and contact possible referees, as well as other researchers and professors in your field. They will be invited to read your paper and advise the editor on whether or not it should be published in that publication.

Step 3: Revise your work and resubmit itYou can then revise your article considering the reviewers' suggestions and resubmit it with any or all of the modifications. If the editor believes your edits are insufficient, you may be asked to make additional revisions, or the manuscript may be rejected.

Open Access Policy: International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies (IJOHACS)  provides immediate open access to all of its content on the idea that making research freely available to the public promotes greater global knowledge exchange. SJHCSSS provides all authors of journal articles with the opportunity to make their work freely available, without time constraints. All Open Access articles will be immediately and indefinitely available for reading and downloading to anybody. Authors maintain ownership of their piece under the CC-BY-NC license, but grant others permission to use the material of IJOHACS publications in whole or in part, as long as the original work is correctly cited.

We are excited to announce that International Journal of Humanities and Communication Studies, a journal of UT University Press, Texas is accepting papers for its Vol.4, Number 2 due for publication by June, 2024. The journal welcomes articles exploring any area in the Humanities such as Languages, Linguistics, Literature, Music, Performing Arts, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Fine Arts, Cultural Studies, etc. It is a journal of interdisciplinary reflections on contemporary human society published bi-annually. It publishes scholarly articles that emphasize research, development and application within the field of humanities.

 Instructions to Authors

  1. To submit manuscripts, you need to create an account on the journal’s webpage https://ijohacs.com/index.php/pub/about/submissions or send your paper to
    billjohnsongonzalez@gmail.com. Follow the current (6th) edition of the MLA Handbook or Chicago Manual or APA style.
  2. Manuscripts must be in both Microsoft Word.Doc. and pdf files
  3. Manuscripts should not exceed 7,000 words, including abstracts and references
  4. Manuscripts may be written in English, French, Arabic, Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa, double- spaced, including quotations and references and in 12- point Times New Roman font.
  5. Titles must be in bold, 14-point Times New Roman font while sub-titles remain 12-point, bold and initial letter cap. All abbreviations and acronyms should be written in full at first appearance in the manuscript text.
  6. All manuscripts must include a brief but captivating abstract which should not exceed 200 words and should describe the scope of the work, methodology, theoretical framework, and the findings. The abstract should also include a set of 5 keywords (preferably in pairs) listed in order of importance to assist in indexing the article.
  7. Manuscripts must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
